J. Paul Nyquist

Paul Nyquist brings over four decades of church, education, and mission leadership to the WCIU Board.  A graduate of the University of Nebraska (BSAS) and with two graduate degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M and Ph.D), Paul served two pastorates in the Midwest while serving as an adjunct faculty member on both the undergraduate and graduate level before becoming the President and CEO of Avant Ministries from 2001-2009. He then served as the President and CEO of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago until 2018.  After a move to Texas to be near family and grandkids, Paul served in executive leadership in two schools before finally retiring. He has served on numerous boards, including the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). He is the author of four books and he and his wife, Cheryl, are blessed with four children and eight grandchildren.
