J. Paul Nyquist

Dr. J. Paul Nyquist brings more than four decades of church, education, and mission leadership to the WCIU Board. A graduate of the University of Nebraska (BSAS), he also earned a ThM and PhD from Dallas Theological Seminary. Paul served in two pastorates in the Midwest while also serving as an adjunct faculty member at both the undergraduate and graduate levels before becoming the President and CEO of Avant Ministries, where he served from 2001 to 2009. He then served as President and CEO of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago until 2018. After relocating to Texas to be near family and grandchildren, Paul served in executive leadership at two schools before retiring. He has served on numerous boards, including the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). He is the author of four books, and he and his wife, Cheryl, are blessed with four children and eight grandchildren.
