Steps to Apply
as a Special Student

Students who wish to enroll in the Foundations of International Development course who are not applying for or accepted in a degree program, may apply for admission to WCIU as a Special Student.

Step 1. Request a referral from your NGO

In keeping with the mission of the University, all students must be referred by an NGO (nongovernment organization). Please refer your organization to wciu.edu/ngoreferral for instructions.

Step 2. Complete the Student Personal Information Form for Special Students (word) (pdf)

It is preferred that this form be completed electronically on the Word document. In lieu of your signature, you may write, "I certify that the information entered on my Personal Information is true to the best of my knowledge. Please accept this email statement in lieu of my signature."

Step 3. Have someone provide a Personal Reference (word) (pdf) for you.

Please ask someone who is not a relative complete the Personal Reference form and return it to WCIU. WCIU would prefer if you would send this by email with the email statement, "I (or do not) waive my right to see this reference knowing that this waiver is NOT REQUIRED for acceptance. Please accept my email statement in lieu of my signature."

Ask your reference to complete and return the form, including the header of your email in his or her email to WCIU. We will also need a statement from your reference. Please ask him or her to cut and paste one of the following:

I recommend the student with enthusiasm.

I recommend the student with some confidence.

I recommend the student with reservation.

I would like to speak to someone.

I do not recommend this student.

and "Please accept my email statement in lieu of my signature."

Step 4. Sign our Purpose and Constituency form. (word) (pdf)

Please send an email statement, "I have carefully read the Purpose and Constituency statement of William Carey International University. In view of WCIU's purpose, values, and constituency, I agree to represent such a constituency and to act in harmony with the University's goals. I agree to abide by the policies of WCIU and to live in accordance with the University's values.

Step 5. Send the Application Fee

Option A.
Call with your Visa or MasterCard information to 626-398-2141

Option B.
Send a check or money order to WCIU Admissions 1539 E. Howard Street Pasadena CA 91104. If you choose this option, please email admissions@wciu.edu or call 626-398-2141 to let the office know the check is on it's way.

Your application will be reviewed only when all of the above five items have been received by the Admissions and Records Office.

If your documents receive a favorable review, you will be asked to request your transcripts from previous institutions. You should hear within one week.
