Q: I want to continue home-schooling. How will this fit with the philosophy of the George Mueller Academy?
A. George Mueller Academy exists to offer an alternative to parents who wish to partner with a community of believers in educating their children in an environment where talents can be pooled to provide a broad range of talents and abilities in all disciplines of teaching and instruction. These parents understand that they are to be responsible stewards of their child's education and want to remain actively involved but are looking to broaden their horizons by pooling their resources with other like-minded families..
Q: My children have varied learning styles, how will GMA address these different styles of learning?
A: GMA employs a multiage classroom to adapt fully to each child through individually paced learning, team work, and encouraging a variety of learning styles. At GMA your child will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from other students as well as our teaching team.
Q. What will our involvement be as parents?
GMA parents are expected to continue teaching and cultivating a love for learning at home, and will oversee their student's studies on Monday and Friday. Home study will be assigned for the subjects covered by GMA (Bible, history, literature, Latin, science) and math will be taught at home. Suggestions will be provided for teaching math at home or on a cooperative basis with other families.
Q. What attendance requirements does GMA have?
Enrolled GMA students are required to be regularly present Tuesday through Thursday, 8am to 1:45 pm. (This includes a morning break as well as lunch.)
Q. How flexible are GMAs attendance requirements?
A. Any enrolled children need to be consistently present to support the classroom dynamic GMA is seeking to develop. For this reason we must require that all families plan to participate fully. GMA classroom time is intentionally limited so that parents can spend time with their kids in other learning and growing opportunities.
