Steps to Apply to be a Mentor
for a student applying for a

Master of Arts in International Development
With a Specialization in Global Civilization

Thank you so much for considering a mentor/student relationship with an applicant for the Global Civilization study program. For more information about the program itself, please write admissions@wciu.edu.

We highly value our mentors who are local to our students, and who are able to be WCIU’s representative for academic accountability and guidance.

Step 1. Download and read the Mentor Guidelines.
This will give you an idea of what is expected.

Step 2. Download, complete, and send the Mentor Personal Information form. (pdf)

It is preferred that this form be filled out electronically on the writable PDF and returned by email. When complete, send to admissions@wciu.edu or mail to WCIU Admissions 1539 East Howard Street Pasadena CA 91104.

Step 3. Sign your student applicant’s Personal Information form.

Your student applicant should send his Personal Information form to you for signature with instructions for what to send in lieu of his or her signature and yours. If he or she has not done so, please send him or her to wciu.edu/apply.html.

The Admissions Office will need to receive from the mentor/student team:

Student Personal Information Form – signed by you
Mentor Personal Information Form – completed and signed by you
Student Applicant’s NGO Referral – from student’s NGO
Application Fee – from student

When these four items are received, a preliminary review by the Director of Admissions will take place. Upon favorable review, both mentor and student applicants will be asked to complete the application process. Notification will be made within two weeks of receipt of all preliminary application items.

At that time, to complete the application process, the mentor applicant will be asked to:

Complete details and forms to download will be provided when student and mentor applicants are asked to continue with the application process.

The application process must be completed in four months. If your application is not complete at that time, your file will be closed. If you would, at a later time, like to reapply, the reapplication fee and admissions requirements at that time will be applied.
