Steps to Apply
for the
Master of Arts in International Development
With a Specialization in Global Civilization
Adobe Reader 8 (or later) is required to complete these forms.

Download Application Checklist (download checklist).
Step 1. Please read the Master's Degree portion of the catalog at (link).
Step 2. Request a referral from your NGO.
Student applicants must first obtain a referral from their NGO (nongovernmental organization). Please refer your organization to wciu.edu/ngoreferral for instructions.
Step 3. Request that your Potential Mentor complete his or her application for Adjunct Faculty.
Please refer your potential Mentor to wciu.edu/apply_mentor for more information and the Mentor Personal Information form.
Step 4. Complete the Student Personal Information Form (download form).
WCIU normally requires official copies of your transcripts to be sent to WCIU directly from the the institution that issues them. If you have an unofficial copy of your transcript, it can speed the process to submit it while waiting for the official copy to arrive. In the case that a foreign institution does not issue official transcripts, please contact admissions@wciu.edu.
Step 6. Request a Personal Reference (download form).
Please request a Personal Reference from someone not related to you, who knows your character and goals.
Step 8. Complete an Admission Statement (download form).
This statement will contain information about your background and goals.
Step 9. Complete the Plagiarism Tutorial at (link).
Step 10. Submit your agreement to the Statement of Academic Integrity with your application (link).
Step 11. Submit an Academic Research Paper That You Have Written.
The research paper must be five to seven pages in length, and must include footnotes and a bibliography. Any referencing style may be used, as long as it is used consistently. You may submit a paper that your have previously researched and written, if the paper was written within the past 5 years and fits the guidelines.
Step 12. Send your agreement to our Purpose and Constituency statement (link).
Your agreement will indicate your understanding of WCIU's purpose, constituency, and goals, and a willingness to abide by the policies of WCIU and to live in accordance with the University's values.
Step 13. Submit the Application Fee ($25).

Send a check or money order to WCIU Admissions 1539 E. Howard Street Pasadena CA 91104. If you choose this option, please email admissions@wciu.edu or call 626-398-2114 to let the office know the check is on it's way.
